Hello all!

I decided to switch my initial planned topic ‘Advertising as Subversion’ to ‘Queer Spirituality’ for my final project in a global queer art and culture class I’m taking. Queer is here being used in its wide umbrella term sense for anything which is not heteronormative (relationships and bodies). Art may be positive or critical portrayals and of ancient or recent origin. I will include the finished project on Genderqueer Identities when it is ready under a new section of the site I am planning that will house my academic material. I am nearly finished but was interested to see what others may have to recommend - here’s what I’m still seeking (all with themes that are religious / mythical containing queerness or by queer artists, or commentate on these subjects in some queer way) - send recommendations through Tumblr or e-mail at marilynroxie@gmail.com.

• Any art made by and/or depicting lesbians and lesbian-feminists in a spiritual context (same-sex relationships, goddesses, religious praise or critique or religion through a lesbian lens, and so on) - this has been the hardest for me to find of all my topics
• Queer spiritual art in any of the following locations: Asia, Africa, Mexico, Australia, Canada (any other countries are fine too, looking for these in particular though)
• Any queer Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Pagan / Wiccan, or Buddhist art as long as it is not of American origin (generally harder to find things outside of the US since I am US-based)
• See a country or belief system not listed here but have a recommendation? Fabulous! Recommend away.
